album review : Awaken to the Suffering (2011) – Pathology

album : Awaken to the Suffering

artist : Pathology

genre : Brutal Death Metal

year : 2011

The pentagram is complete. Sick musicians Pathology who are bloody serious about drilling your brain with unmistakable death metal have done it the fifth time over. Another fine exponent of American death metal scene, Pathology cannot be ignored easily for other bands from the same genre. The tunes on Awaken to the Suffering are capable of lapidating the hearer as they combine heavy music with messages, and I agree with the band’s school of thought.

The tracks are brutal as fvck, groovy enough to make customers at gorepub dance to their macabre tunes and they even have patches for listeners who have a thing for solos on a brutal death album. Oscar Ramirez‘s bass would break all the eggs in your house, Dave Astor slaps the drum hard enough to make you forget your headache. Tim Tiszczenko and Kevin Schwartz come in from both sides of your ears only to realize Jonathan Huber is squeaking right in your face. Even the cover art is splendidly comprehensive.

Awaken to the Suffering would either make your stronger or would cripple you. Either way you can visit the Pathology department to figure out what’s wrong. But even there you’ll either find help or feel helpless. And now, you are trapped.

album review : End Time (2011) – Brutal Truth

album : End Time

artist : Brutal Truth

genre : Death Metal/Grindcore

year : 2011

Habituated to providing quality grindcore, Brutal Truth has rarely been seen stammering on any of their albums. Death metal to American scene is what black metal is to the Norwegian, and Brutal Truth has always made their opinions count in shaping the genre itself. Been there, done that? Yes, they surely have been there and have done that for they have set a benchmark through their releases by hitting groove, aiming brutality and have been known for their ‘short’ style of songwriting. Hell, they even hold a record for the world’s shortest music video.

While they have gone as far as having twenty two songs on one of their earlier albums (Sounds of the Animal Kingdom), this time they have decided to surpass their own record as End Time stocks twenty three of them.  The band is furious on these short pieces of grindcore tales and if there was something undone on their earlier works then they have filled End Time with that as well. An over fifteen minutes song named Control Room puts a full stop to the album and to those who think Brutal Truth are only cut out to short concise tracks.

The founding bassist of Anthrax, who is also the founding member of Brutal TruthDan Lilker hits your head hard with his bass. The nasty guitaring by Erik Burke balances the awry original drumming by Richard Hoak, and Kevin Sharp‘s vocals are hip by death metal standards.

There are no rules when Brutal Truth makes music, because they make their own rules along the way and they keep breaking them.

album review : Entity (2011) – Origin

album : Entity

artist : Origin

genre : Technical Brutal Death Metal

year : 2011

With the Illus Divinum Insanus chapter closed even before the release, I was slipping into post-crap depression in the aftermath. Along came a savior – Origin – and they are releasing an album on the same day as Morbid Angel. Forget competition, there is not even a comparison between the two.

Entity is the sixth full-length offering by Origin and you’ll find yourself trapped in a tsunami of death metal. Oh, I so missed those blast beats cruising at the speed of light, the umbrella of maddening riffs and those crazy vocals complementing all of the above. After the first listen, I can strongly see the band attempting things differently but let me make it clear that Origin does not compensate in any which way. They are here to make things uneasy for you with their peculiar mix of technicality and brutality. Dare you point a finger at them, if you do then you’d be washed away. They are playing that level of metal here.

Origin has honed the skill of writing songs that brings their imagination to life. They don’t just play songs they enact the whole idea. The pulverising riffs do the translation, while the drums open fire at the same time. Be it Explosion of Fury, Conceiving Death, Swarm, Banishing Illusion or Evolution of Extinction they all seem like a tale is being told. Vocally it is a race between screeches and growls and both finish first. Committed, Banishing Illusion, Consequence of Solution, Purgatory and Saliga could be chapters in effective dual-vocal delivery.

I am more than just satisfied by Entity. Now what you have to do is keep a nail against a wall and play Entity, you’ll observe the nail driving itself inside. The band isn’t wrong in naming themselves Origin because, my fellow metal heads, this is where it all begins.

album review : Orgy of Murder (2011) – Gorgasm

album : Orgy of Murder

artist : Gorgasm

genre : Brutal Death Metal

year : 2011

Welcome to the perverted, sex-worshipping, murder-encouraging, torture-loving world of American death metal preachers – Gorgasm. They have a way with the genre and they talk their instruments into producing elite brutality as anything they pour is full of gore.

Most tracks on Orgy of Murder attack whores without any relent and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. There is nothing called as a bad track or an awesome track on Orgy of Murder because all songs on this one present the band strongly – considering the technical aspect and otherwise.

The album has two members providing delectable vocals, two members chasing you with their guitars that don’t stop riffing, a bassist who is already deep within your ears but wants to give you more and a drummer who wouldn’t let you relax either. The collection of eleven songs aren’t monotonous, neither are they occassion-specific. Just blast them…

The themes have gotten even more sick, to an extent wherein if you are getting killed or fvcked normally then you are plain lucky. I can already think of a lady to replace the slut getting screwed mercilessly on the album cover. Wow what a relief that there is a band giving true meaning to how many of us feel at times. How much ever we love women we are fully aware that there are always a few around us who deserve to sit in front of Gorgasm while they are penning down lyrics.

After listening to Orgy of Murder I am greedy for more of such pure stuff. Wherever these guys are headed with their music they sure know how to get their point across with their unpredictable brutal death metal terminology. Listen to this album else you might be Gorgasm‘s next song.
