Absurd Bulletin : Story of the World

I am more alert about what is happening around me and around you, now than ever. A couple of months into it now, I have made it a habit to read newspapers. Yes, I was not always doing that. So I decided to put together some news that refuse to die down for me. There are shitloads of activities happening in every department in the world and this article would be followed up with many of them.

split, everything

So, well we all have read and heard about the mess Tiger ‘philanderer’ Woods got himself into. A Nike endorsee, he couldn’t have done more justice to his brand. He just did it. And went on doing it. The baby-faced golfer thought he could get away with all of that, but his wife thought otherwise. Woods has reached a settlement with his wife and to-be ex-wife Elin and has agreed to pay her $750 million. burp! So to use his golf stick off the field with 3 women excluding his wife he has agreed to pay that much. The agreement also requires Woods to not meet his 2 kids for atleast four days in one week. But I wonder what his wife is going to do with 3500 crores. Go somewhere for a vacation and not comeback?

enough of this ..

Ranjitha – the actress who got instant fame for her infamous fling with Nithyananda is putting down a book which would talk about the ways and means to fight controversies. Yes, I did not expect anyone else to even think on those lines. Some people just cannot live without being in the news. Now that she has tasted fame through the ugly news, instead of finding a safe place to hide her face she came out and announced this. I still pity you, Ranjitha.

leave me be ..

Nalini Sriharan is still in jail after she killed Rajiv Gandhi by blowing him up. For those who do not know its been close to 20 years for her in prison. Rajiv Gandhi did have a hand in Warren Anderson fleeing the country after the Bhopal gas tragedy. Gandhi was India’s prime minister then. Somewhere down the line he did pay for doing injustice to those 500000 people who were affected by the leak. I guess its enough for Nalini, she should be acquitted now.

save our tigers, how?

The country’s tiger count is still at 1411. Forest officials should use some strong aphrodisiac to arouse the male tigers and get them to mate with the tigresses. But with the number of advertisements doing the rounds that speak about the tiger count I get a feeling that all 1411 of them belong to the same sex, and hence the worry.

The condition of hoardings and placards in Chennai remains the same. Karunanidhi and his son Cinthol Senthil have virtually taken up all the ad-space in Tamilnadu. They are all over. They haunt me more than my credit card bills do. Sobriety has reigned most part of the last one month for me, and I am listening to a lot of John Frusciante‘s songs as of now which implies you should get his albums if you have not heard them. His tracks managed to touch me at all the right places.

fvck you, Paul!

Focus. India just lost 3000 crores due to the one-day bandh, but I was still in office. Eight-legged celebrity, Paul is spoiling all the fun at the world cup. How I wish Al-Qaeda is active now. And, a couple of days back TOI carried the world headlines that said Marilyn Monroe‘s chest x-rays fetched $45,000 in an auction, and few days later they said a jam made out of Princess Diana‘s hair is being sold at five pounds in London. Extending the obituary column would have made them richer rather than this news. I mean come on. Who gives a fvck? – even Zygnema doesn’t.

Between Two Worlds

Trekking Away To Glory

Mountain climbing is not something I do everyday. But who does it everyday anyways. So this Sunday having nothing to do three of us planned to go for trekking – myself, sindhi Hitesh Thadani and aamcha Mandar Patil. This was the second time I was going for one. A large portion of this area named Pallavaram where I stay has rocky regions and one such place which could be seen far behind my society was to be climbed. It did seem a task and me staying awake the previous night made matters worse. The other two woke up six in the morning and after throwing tantrums finally made up their mind.

Left home at seven and began walking with some viking metal pleasing my ears. After much pain of trying to ask the localites the way to reach the foot of the mountain we did reach a point which seemed like a good place to start. Armed with bananas and few gallons of water, began the fight. Every twenty steps we came across some or the other scenery. It was obvious the place would have a different charm at that time of the day. Each of us tried putting our skills of photography to test.

time for some Deicide.. saw this on my way up roflmfao!

Considering my last trekking experience a few years back, nothing dangerous here. Took us little over an hour to reach the highest point. I was bruised at many parts due to some wild cactus plants on the way. And then we witnessed heaven. The place had a charm that I did not find anywhere else in Tamilnadu. There was a small old mosque kind of structure with its dome covered in fog. Looked eerie and nice at the same time. From the top we could see the Chennai airport and watching ‘crafts land and take-off from where I stood was another experience.

Only after an hour or so did we realize the impact of the heat that would follow once the sun is completely up, and hence the early descent could not be avoided. Reached down in another forty minutes and by that time I was dead. Or almost dead. It was a while since I was so tired at once, so the genuine trickling of volumes of sweat down my brow left me somewhat satisfied.

sindhi marathi bhai-bhai!

This proved that planning anything fun does not make sense. It should be spot-on.  And as far as this adventure was concerned, it proved to be a fruitful one as I stumbled upon a place that was so far and yet so close. Same applies to life. There are things which we consider are far away from us but they indeed are closer than we think. I guess time and patience are the solutions to many things around.

elysium!

Dung-ho!

Life has its own of way of telling us we are in deep shit, and nature has its own. It was close to midnight yesterday when I came across something that opened my eyes and reminded me there are simpler ways to stay connected with nature.

It was on my way back home from office in the company provided cab with close to eight others. In the process of dropping each one of them we reached a place which I really do not remember as I was busy listening to Absu. Something made me look out of the window and there stood a cow getting ready for action. Lifted its tail and gave me a sign of things to come. And before I could blink there was a spurt of shit accumulating on the ground. The freshness of the dung was roaring through the reflection of the street lights in it. Then I happened to glance at the sly cow’s candid face and noticed that air of relief. Pure!

go check tamilnadu map

When I tried to look at the snap and meditate in that tired condition I was picturing the map of an Indian state that would blissfully fit in the dung-frame and no points for guessing which state the above picture reminded me of.

Had I encountered this during the first week of March even I would have played the festival of colors. And at the same time would be doing my bit for nature, through nature. That is what I would call an Eco-friendly Holi. Apt!
